Nairobi, Kenya – June 2025 – With Kenya’s population projected to exceed 63 million, the nation faces a growing healthcare workforce crisis that threatens to derail progress toward achieving Universal Health Coverage (UHC). According to the World Health Organization (WHO), Kenya currently produces just 7,650 new healthcare workers each year—far short of the over 70,000 additional professionals required to meet national demand. Without urgent intervention, this gap is expected to widen dramatically, surpassing 170,000 by the year 2035.
