A cameraman was reportedly assaulted during the late-night raid on the Fay Bistro lounge in Kilimani on Saturday, October 19, 2024, as Nairobi City County officials, led by Chief Officer for Environment Geoffrey Mosiria, sought to address multiple noise complaints from residents regarding the club’s excessive noise levels that had been disrupting the neighborhood.

A video circulating on social media shows how the situation escalated when the club’s owner identified as “Luqman” arrived at the scene.
As Chief Officer Mosiria attempted to mediate and request that the music volume be lowered, the footage shows Luqman approaching the cameraman and grabbing the recording device he was using.
According to eyewitness accounts, what followed was an altercation that left the cameraman nursing injuries after he was physically assaulted.

He subsequently filed a formal complaint at the Kilimani Police Station and now wants appropriate action taken against the rogue club owner.
The incident shows how far proprietors of noisy establishments are willing to go to protect their interests at the expense of county regulations.
In response to the uproar caused by the incident, Environment Cabinet Secretary Aden Duale has since ordered the immediate closure of Fay Bistro for repeated noise violations.
